- Contemporary Arts practice (installation & performance)

- Contemporary theory

- Embodiment and enactive theories of cognition

- Experimental architecture and built environment

- Practice-led research and research design

Research Snapshot:

Jondi Keane’s creative research consists of three practice strands: an ‘enactive’ drawing-based studio practice (2 thhts@1nce and Chalkdrummers 2007- ); a series of iterative installation–performances (All That is Solid Melts into Movement 2018, Moveable Measures 2017, Technics & Touch 2015-6, PAN&ZOOM 2015, Tuning Fork 2009); and large-scale collaborative projects (Flows and Catchments research group such as Stone Soup 2012, Migrant Stones 2013, Ghost Muscle 2013 and Building Movements 2013; and participation [as a co-applicant] on a SSHRC grant: Immediations: Art, Media and Event (Canada 2011- 2018) which has produced numerous creative outcomes (Into the Diagram, Artspace Sydney 2011; Knots of Relation UNSW gallery 2014, The Proceeding Procedure, Glasshouse Brooklyn 2014; Improvisation Practices, Critical Path, Sydney 2014 and grant related publications including an essay in Immedaitons Anthology (forthcoming OHP 2018), Inflexions: Arakawa and Gins Special issue, No.6 2012 (ed), and Inflexions: special issue “Radical Pedagogies", No.8 2015.

The interdisciplinary nature of his research focused through the lens of Art’s contribution to Enactive theories of cognition, perception and action, and materiality — he has published in numerous high-profile journals including: Interfaces journal, Ecological Psychology, Janus Head, Studies in Material Thinking, Media/Culture, AD (Architectural Design), Artforum, Inflexions, TEXT, Global Performance Studies, Applied Mobilities, Transformations journal and Leonardo (LEA) journal. Workshops, performative presentations, enactive exercises, facilitation and discussion (procedural public conversations) form an increasing part of his research combining scholarship and social practice. This is particularly evident in the major research events, such as the co-organization of AG3:Online -- The Third International Arakawa and Gins Architecture and Philosophy Conference (Griffith University, 2010) Unruly Techniques: Linking Knowledge Practices through Art, Science and Technology (Deakin University, 2015 and will organize the second iteration of Body of Knowledge: Art and Embodied Cognition (Deakin University, July 2019) and assist with the organization of and curate the exhibition at the 4th Arakawa and Gins Philosophy and Architecture Conference at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan 2021.
